“The Lord said to Moses,“Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea. Divide the water so the Israelites can walk through the middle of the season dry ground…My glory will be displayed through Pharaoh and his troops, his chariot, and his charioteers.”
Exodus 14:16-17
There was a soccer coach recently speaking to one of his players. This player, not having much experience, held the ball and waited for an option to pass it. His coach pulled him to the side and said, “You’re waiting on passes to open up. Instead, go and dictate play.” Rather than waiting to see what would happen, the coach wanted him to move into space and take charge of the field. This would force options to open up around him.
Often times when decisions aren't clear and there are many choices to choose from, we can hesitate on what the next step is. We can internally process, “What will happen if I do ‘x’? Will I have the answers on the other side? What will this mean to the people/team around me? How do I know this is the right decision?” We can over analyse a situation and still not have a plan.
The next time you're uncertain over what decision to make, think of Moses and what he was going through in Exodus 14. He was leading a nation and was stuck in front of a giant sea with the Egyptian army coming up quickly behind them. Imagine the fear he must have been feeling! He had to do something.
Every knows knows that what should I do? feeling. If this is where you are, you're not alone. Take a moment and listen to what God may be tell you. Get quiet, worship, and ready your heart for his words. Then, go—dictate play. Move into that direction. Dare to go all in. It may not be 100% clear at first, but you won't regret moving towards where you believe God is calling you.
Step out with strength and courage.
Step forward with what he's placed in your heart and watch God work.
