Colossians 4:2-6 | Our Strongest Gift

Consider the last time you give a gift to a person. Perhaps it was someone’s birthday recently, or you’re currently thinking what Christmas gift you should give a family member or friend. Usually, we think of a gift as a meaningful, tangible item someone can hold and treasure. But perhaps the most powerful gift we can give to another is the gift of prayer.

In Paul’s closing chapter of Colossians, he requests that the young believers join him in prayer as he continues sharing the good news to anyone who may hear, even if Paul himself was in prison at the time. What is truly amazing is though Paul was the man of many journeys, hardships, and dangers, and was the great apostolic planter across the region, nevertheless he opens himself up for prayer in a transparent, humble way. Even though the church of Colossae was still in its early days, Paul didn’t miss the chance to empower the new congregations to pray.

We will never know the impact our prayers have until heaven. The beauty of prayer is that God hears the prayers of an “experienced” Christian just as hears the prayers of a “junior” Christian. In fact, in God’s world, both are equal for both are in Christ.

Take time to pray over any needs in your connect group: • For the sick • those in need • for God’s Church
