“I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”
Psalm 40:1-2
Have you ever found yourself in a season of waiting? Waiting for the right opportunity or for the right timing to start that business; waiting for change or waiting for the right partner. When we hear from God about something that He’s going to do, it can be exciting in the moment as we wait on God for His next step. But let’s be real, waiting can also frustrate us and cause us to ask God the tough question about His plans for our lives.
Perhaps you're in this season right now. Be encouraged, you’re not alone. And our challenge to you is: while you're waiting, what will you do with your time?
When Jesus ascended to heaven in Acts 1 He told the disciples to wait on the Holy Spirit. Here are a couple things they did while they waited:
1. The disciples stayed connect to God (1:12)
2. They stayed in community and didn’t isolate themselves (1:14)
3. They took the opportunity to complete other tasks that would strength them (1:15-26)
God’s timing is better than our own and His plans supersede any of ours. It can be a faith-journey to see this, so be real with Him. And ask another brother or sister what they’re believing for in this season. Learn to carry the waiting together.
