“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it”
Genesis 2:15
Today you probably got up and went to work in the early part of the morning. Whatever your motivation was, it was enough to get you out of bed, into your car, and back to where you left off yesterday. None of us are excluded from working. God created us to work. However, God doesn’t want us to simply show up to work...he’s created us to work with a mission. Often we forgot that our 9-5’s are the very place where He can be most glorified! The Bible talks about God creating us with a mission to fulfill. He’s created us exactly the way we should be to accomplish this. Passionate, driven, and eager to win, there’s no mistake in our personality or strengths. So how does this relate to work? Well, our work is one of the main places we outwork our mission. God didn’t create us so that we may merely take up space and receive a paycheck every week. He created us to that we may thrive and excel in all we do. That we may be creators, producers, trainers, organizers, and innovators like he is. Your work and your work space can be holy ground, no matter what it is. Remind yourself that you are “God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for you to do.” (Eph 2:10). You’re created on purpose for a purpose. You were created by excellence for excellence.
